New to our list this season. This Barbera is aged only in stainless steel to retain its full fruit flavour and freshness. A rich intense plum in colour this is a fresh, full-bodied, yet elegant Barbera with luscious black fruit, spice and hint of rubber on the nose. The perfect combination of rich dark fruit and acidity on the palate leading to a smooth and elegant finish. Drinking for the next five years.

Superb paired with a meat pasta, duck or lamb.

A fantastic example of this great vintage for Barbera. Rich and full of black fruit on the nose combined with gentle spice. The palate is smooth, elegant and deliciously fruity. This Barbera spends 15 months in French oak and a further year in bottle before release. Whilst drinking very well now, it exhibits enough body to allow it to age for at least another 7-10 years.

Perfect to accompany pasta dishes and any fatty meat, like lamb or duck.

2007 Principiano Barbera d'Alba 'La Romualda'

Of all the Barbera we’ve tasted, this is a really special one! It is produced from grapes grown in the oldest Barbera vineyard in Piedmont, with vines up to 70 years old and a production limited to only 1200 bottles. This vintage is a rich plummy colour, with a massively complex sweet and spicy nose. The palate is sublime with layer upon layer of differing black fruits and gentle spices. The perfect balance of fruit and acidity – a fantastic combination. Drinking beautifully now, this wine will also continue to age for another 15 years, which is very unusual in a Barbera.

Food Pairing

Perfect to accompany pasta dishes and any fatty meat, like lamb or duck.

This wine is light plum in colour, rich with black fruit and spice on the nose. Aged in French barrique for 15 months and a further six in the bottle, this wine has a complex rounded palate full of fruit, spices and herbs. This allows for a deliciously long and sweet finish.

This is a fantastic introduction to Barolo. A classic terracotta colour with aniseed, sweet red fruit and a slight hint of Indian spice on the nose. The palate is full of sweet black fruit, complete and balanced. This is still a young wine, but drinking very well now and will continue to mature until 2020.

Excellent with roast meat or with cheese.

2005 Fantino Barolo 'Dardi'

Rich with ripe red fruit and strawberries, this full-bodied wine boasts notable concentration and richness with a hint of mocha on the palate. The round silky tannins caress the palate through to the long, elegant finish. This is one of the best introductions to this noble wine you can find! This wine is drinking beautifully now, but if you have a little patience will also continue to improve for the next 10 years and keep for 20.

This Barolo is a classic terracotta colour, with a nose of cherries, violets and sweet sticky fruit. There is a hint of spice and chocolate on the palate and it has an incredibly long sweet and elegant finish. The 2005 vintage is more forward than the 2004, so is drinking now but really is a wine to keep and appreciate with good friends! It will continue to improve over the next five years and then will age for 20-25 years.

This Barolo Riserva spends 5 years in Slavonian oak before being released. It has a sweet nose filled with stewed fruit and gentle Indian spices that are indicative of the long hot summer of 2003. The palate is full of damsons and cherries with a touch of liquorice and hints of porcini, leading to a full and long finish. Drinking now, it will continue to improve for the next five years and will age for the next 15.

A classic brick terracotta colour, with a very elegant nose of rich red and hedgerow fruits. The palate is full of sweet red fruit and aniseed, leading to a long and lingering finish. A very elegant Barolo from La Morra, which is drinking perfectly now and will continue to age for at least another 10 years.

It is drinking beautifully now and will continue to age for another 10 years easily. A superb Barolo from the commune of La Morra.

Great when served with turkey, goose and pork. Plus it's fantastic with aged cheese, or gorgonzola.

1999 Rocche dei Manzoni 'Vigna Madonna Assunta La Villa'

This wine comes from the Castelletto vineyard directly under the church ‘Madonna Assunta’ from which it takes its name. It spends 4 years in barrique, then one year in Slavonian oak before finally being matured for a further 5 years in bottle prior to release. This Barolo has a deep plummy hue and on the nose there is intense black fruit, porcini and cigar box aromas. It is a wine notable for the sheer depth and luxuriousness of its fruit on the palate. It has massive full front-of-mouth tannins leading to a long fruity finish. A sensational Barolo that will keep for another 40 years.

Dolcetto is a unique varietal indigenous to Piedmont. A beautiful magenta in colour with black fruit and cherry on the nose. The palate is bursting with fruit – in particular fresh raspberries. This Dolcetto has a refreshing acidity, which balanced with its forward fruitiness makes for a lovely, very fresh and elegant wine. For drinking in the first 4 years.

In Piemonte Dolcetto is the preferred lunch time or antipasti wine.

A vivid ruby red hue with intense notes of red berries and vanilla ice-cream on the nose. The Merlot comes through strongly on the palate providing an elegance and sweetness, which when combined with the structure of the Barbera, makes a delicious full and rounded wine. A distinct wine that will age for up to 8 years.
